YUVAKENDRA

The Yuvakendra Program emphasizes on Values and Hindu cultural heritage. Yuvakendra students are encouraged to volunteer in community and social service activities in the Karmayoga spirit.

The program includes a study of texts such as "the Art of Man Making," and the Gita for the Youth. Yuvakendra students also provide teaching assistance for Balvihar classes.

Children are a major focus at Chinmaya Mission. The goal of Balavihara is to "wake up the sleeping giant" in our children and inspire them to reach their maximum potential by following the values expounded by saints and sages.

A team of specially trained, experienced, and dedicated teachers teaches the Balavihara program. Through games, arts, crafts, stories, and other unique techniques, the Balavihara program teaches and reinforces spiritual and cultural values. The curriculum designed for all grade levels (Kindergarten through Grade-12) is creative and dynamic, and it covers a wide range of topics such as:

  • Unique Balvihar alphabets
  • Stories of Ramayana and Bhagavatam
  • Symbolism in Hinduism

  • Key to Success - a unique selection from Ramacharitamanasa
  • Values - as given by Sri Krsna in the Gita
  • Hindu Culture
